Al Prodgers Comedy DOUBLE TAKE Stand-Up Comedy Tour - Durban
Double Comedy – Al Prodgers & Warren Robertson, prove life gets funnier after the first glance. Double Venues – For maximum audience convenience, the show will run at the Seabrooke’s Theatre, Musgrave and then at the Rhumbelow Theatre, Umbilo from 7 – 9 September. Double Take – Ever seen something that looks perfectly ordinary at first, but then an odd aspect catches your eye and as you look again, you realise how absurd and hilarious it actually is? It’s that eye-boggling second look that triggers your explosive laugh and often an embarrassing spray of coffee across the room, the classic double take! South Africa is alive with moments like these. Comedians Al Prodgers and Warren Robertson get a big kick out of spotting them and creating them. Double Take is a comedic celebration of who we are. The performers pokes fond fun at the tacky, but also revel in what we manage to achieve, often in spite of ourselves. This is the first time the pair is bringing their combined talents to Durban in a stand up show. They’ve brought their best material, but have also left space for improvised interaction with the audience to keep every evening topical and unique. It’s this unpredictable element and a few “adult’ references that give Double Take its “No U18” age restriction. Prodgers and Robertson have both honed their comedy internationally in Canada, the UK and slightly more (comedically) surreal places like Uganda and Dubai, so they’re skilled at making their humour accessible to everyone, but they’re proudly local and looking forward to incorporate Durban and its citizens into the act. Al Prodgers can be wry, witty and whimsical, but he never forgets our common humanity. The South Africa Times in London wrote of his performance “you’re likely to come away with new respect for the power of laughter and the role it has played in transforming a country.” Warren Robertson has been described by comic legend, Mel Miller as “Probably the smartest, funniest young comedian in the country today." You have a double chance to catch the comedy duo in Double Take which runs at two venues for maximum audience convenience, the Seabrooke’s Theatre and at the Rhumbelow Theatre from 7 - 9 September. Bookings are through Computicket. ENDS For more info contact: Sophie Thompson - Publicity Matters 031 201 1638 or Ulandi Annandale – Al Prodgers Comedy 011 462 9322.
